Councillor Profile
Jonathan is an information technology executive, researcher, writer and lawyer.
He has served on Cam Parish Council since 2015 and brings the experience of having served on four local councils since 2003.
He founded the newly renamed Centre for Research into Online Communities, E-Learning and Socialnomics in 2005, co-founded the recently incorporated Crocels Community Media Group in 2012 and presently runs Jonathan Bishop Limited from the Gloucestershire Science and Technology Park within the district. His research and development work generally falls within human-computer interaction and he is widely published on the subjects such as Internet trolling, cyber-stalking and cyber-law.
Jonathan is highly qualified with more than one post-graduate degree to his name and is a member of several professional bodies.
He enjoys contributing within the community especially in the areas of environment, heritage and equality, has served as a school governor and once ran a project at Dursley Library, which linked young people from Cam with those in Melbourne. He has plans to run further projects in the district between 2021 and 2023 as part of his PhD studies at the University of Gloucestershire, where he also obtained a Masters in Business Administration.
In his spare time he enjoys listening to music, swimming and chess.
