Macrame is a relaxing and therapeutic craft that keeps your hands busy and gives your mind time to rest. Wallhangings are a great addition to any space, by adding texture they soften your decor scheme and add an element of delicacy.

In this class you will learn the basics of macrame including suitable materials to use, knotting techniques and how to build patterns with those knotting techniques. You will make your own wall hanging from start to finish and leave with knowledge of how to design and make your own unique wall tapestries.

Please bring £3 cash with you to pay the tutor for materials.

A great introduction to making your own lino prints. You will be guided in the design, cutting and printing processes and will make a block that can be used to print on paper or fabric.

You will use easy to cut lino, and at the end of the day you should have a number of good prints to take away, as well as a block that can be used again.

No experience necessary and don't worry if you can't draw!

The materials cost will be an additional £7 cash payable to the tutor on the day.

First Steps in Photography with Alan Law - £90 (5 week class)

Learn all about your Digital Camera, then step outside and use it!

You will, over a series of 5 sessions, learn how to use your digital camera to the full.

A complete understanding of the how, why, when, where and what of the Art of Photography.

The composition, techniques and aesthetics of the Photograph will be explored.

Every session will begin in the "classroom" and involve working in and around the local environment - Kingshill House and beyond.

We will focus on using your new found knowledge to photograph some or, time permitting, all of the following subjects: portraits, landscape, the built environment, and flowers (looking at close-up photography).

Ideally you will have a Digital SLR/ Bridge camera with "Manual" mode and have a basic knowledge of the camera "layout" to save time looking for knobs, dials/switches etc!

A laptop or similar device will be useful to upload your photographs and learn how to perform simple editing tasks to enhance the finished images.

The dates for this 5 week class are: 25 February, 4, 11, 18 and 25 March
