Cam Railway Station - Parking and traffic issues
In August 2019, Cam Parish Council held a multi-agency meeting with representatives from Gloucestershire Highways, Gloucestershire County Council, Stroud District Council, MP David Drew and Parish, District & County Councillors for Cam to address the urgent problems relating to parking at Cam & Dursley Train Station, Box Road and the surrounding road network.
The meeting was led by Cam Parish Council Chair, Cllr Christina Carter and was well attended and several avenues were explored. Subsequent progress, however, has been slow to contribute to any solutions.
Cllr Carter said,
"We share the concerns of local residents about this increasingly urgent problem and we will continue to do all we can to find a solution. We are lobbying all of the agencies involved for urgent improvements to the access road and facilities at Cam station.
"The problem with parking on Box Road is the down side of a welcome but unprecedented increase in the number of people who use Cam Station. This has exacerbated a situation which has been highlighted for many years by the parish council. The vast amount of development being built in the local area will continue to add to the problem with more homes, people and cars."
