WORK to create two exciting new children's play areas at Jubilee Playing Field in Cam is due to start on Thursday 7 July.

Play designers Proludic will be on site for five weeks building a fenced play area for toddler aged children and an unfenced area with equipment for older, junior aged children.

Jubilee Playing Field will remain open to the public while the play areas are installed but there will be restricted access and limited parking during the construction works. Heavy vehicles will be delivering equipment to the site along Everside Lane, which is the restricted by-way leading to Jubilee Playing Field. The play designers will be using a section of the car park to hold its equipment and machinery and may need to cone out an area of the public parking at the entrance to the site.

Cam Parish Council has commissioned the works. Jon Fulcher, chair of the council, asked users of the playing field to be extra careful when using the site while this worthwhile project is delivered and to even consider avoiding the area for a while.

He said: "We would ask residents neighbouring Jubilee Playing Field and all users to be aware of lorries and workmen coming to and from the site and working in and around the main car park and entrance. All users should heed the signage instructions displayed and the installer safety barriers for their own welfare. Parents of young children and pet owners are particularly advised to exercise extra caution around the works area."

"Cam Parish Council would appreciate users finding alternative green spaces in the area for the first week of activity or to access the site with care by foot rather than risking issues at Everside Lane with parking, etc."

He continued: "We apologise to all users for the inconvenience the works will cause in the short term while our efforts to improve facilities for many younger members of our community and their families at Jubilee Playing Field continue."
